Sustainable Finance

The diverse issues surrounding sustainable finance are the focus of this team in the Association of German Banks.

It is our conviction that only with the banks can the transition to a resource-conserving economy succeed. This applies in particular to the financing of climate protection measures. Together with our member banks, we are therefore working on solutions to jointly tackle and overcome the challenges in the field of sustainable finance.

The team sustainable finance analyses and comments on legislative and other regulatory projects at international, European and national level in consultation with the banks. In this way, we contribute the know-how of market participants in order to help shape the future legal framework in a practical way. We are also involved in external expert committees.

Our current focus is on mitigating climate change and its harmful effects. But our understanding of sustainability is not limited to addressing the harmful effects of climate change and other ecological problems. Social balance, the protection of human rights and sustainable corporate governance are also becoming increasingly important in our work.
