Banks on Screen: Zero tolerance for money laundering and what Europe is doing about it. Source: Vimeo

The fight against money laundering and terrorist financing is a top priority on the political agenda. Against the backdrop of money laundering scandals also in the European Union, the EU Commission presented a far-reaching regulatory package in July 2021 that fundamentally readjusts the competences between the Union and the Member States and standardises central regulations across Europe. The aim is to combat serious crime and terrorism more effectively and efficiently than before.

However, the current criminal policy concept of combating money laundering is also called into question. In particular, the low level of success in criminal prosecution in relation to the constantly increasing number of suspicious activity reports from the private sector is criticised.

Will the present legislative package succeed in bringing about fundamental improvements? We would like to discuss this question together with experts from politics, authorities and the private sector.

As part of our Banks on Screen series, we held an online event on

Wednesday, 17 November 2021, from 10.00 to 11.00 a.m.
