Christian Sewing, President of the Association of German Banks, on the decision of the IFRS Foundation to base the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany:
“This decision is a major success for Frankfurt as a financial centre . Germany is already one of the leading places when it comes to sustainable finance. And we intend to live up to that claim – both now and in the future. Internationally coordinated sustainability reporting for globally active banks and businesses will be key, here. Frankfurt with more than 200 banks, international organisations and an outstanding scientific infrastructure, offers the ISSB an optimal environment in which to take on this challenging task.
