Discussion paper on competitiveness

Competitiveness is the buzzword of the moment – for banks and savings banks too. As the cardiovascular system of the economy, they are indispensable for growth, innovation, and stability. However, the current regulatory framework places a considerable burden on institutions: it is overly complex, cost-intensive, and opaque.

In its latest discussion paper, the German Banking Industry Committee (DK) analyzes the complex and fragmented regulatory framework for banking supervision. At the same time, it identifies areas where solutions could be found to ensure that sustainable, efficient, and stable regulation provides scope for more growth and investment in a sovereign Europe.
