On 14 December 2023, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published a consultation on a draft for Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) amending supervisory reporting requirements. This consultation is the first step towards further specification of requirements from the European banking package 2021 (Capital Requirements Regulation – CRR III and Capital Requirements Directive – CRD VI). The German Banking Industry Committee has submitted comments on the draft.

By publishing this consultation, the EBA intends to provide clarity early on and support institutions as they implement the latest reforms to the banking package 2021. The first step towards implementation is particularly focused on implementing amendments regarding the output floor, the credit risk including IP losses (highest loss rates from mortgage-backed receivables), the CVA risk, the market risk and the leverage ratio. The ITS includes sweeping amendments to reporting requirements. However, there is a very short time period for implementation before the new regulations take effect pursuant to CRR III on 01 January 2025; prudential reporting based on these requirements is due on 31 March 2025. Further details can be found in GBIC’s comments.
