In April 2021, the European Commission presented its proposal for regulating artificial intelligence (AI). This proposal is also crucially important to the German economy.
Artificial intelligence is one of the key technologies of the 21st century and offers enormous economic applications. It permeates almost all areas of our lives and brings with it both opportunities and risks.
The European Commission’s risk-based approach to regulating AI basically makes good sense and is to be welcomed.
In the view of the German business community, however, some of the proposed rules still have room for improvement. Our joint position paper on the proposed regulation of AI can be found here.
